Physicist by day and vocalist by night.
When she was six years old, Yelena immigrated to the U.S. from Russia with her family. She grew up and graduated high school in Twin Falls, ID, where she grew to love education and music. She earned her B.S. in Physics from MIT, did post-baccalaureate work at the in Los Alamos Neutron Science Center, and is currently a graduate student in the UW Experimental Nuclear Physics PhD program.
Although physics is her favorite day job, Yelena has been involved in vocal performance at all stages of her scholastic career, singing in choirs, collegiate a cappella groups, and solo recitals. She’s been a member of the UW Chamber Singers since she started the graduate program and recently received the UW Chamber Singers Non-Major Musicianship and Leadership Award. She loves living in Seattle and is thrilled to be among people who share her passion for music.
